Across Texas Aviation: TxDOT Aviation Division’s Statewide Impact

West Region

Abilene Regional Airport

The Abilene Regional Airport Air Tanker Ramp project, led by Garver in partnership with the City of Abilene, constructed a dedicated wildfire tanker apron to support aerial firefighting operations. This new infrastructure improves the efficiency and capacity for loading, staging and deploying aircraft used in wildfire suppression efforts. By enhancing operational readiness, the apron strengthens the state’s ability to respond quickly and effectively to wildfires.

Midland Airpark

The Midland Airpark Airfield Improvements project, led by Parkhill in partnership with the City of Midland, upgraded deteriorating runways and infrastructure while keeping the airport fully operational. Through an innovative design and phasing approach, the team met strict FAA requirements, accelerated the schedule and saved approximately $1 million. The improvements enhanced safety, increased aircraft capacity and positioned the airpark for future growth.
