Adopt-an-Airport
Strengthening Texas Airports Through Community Involvement
Texas airports play an important role in connecting communities, supporting local economies and providing access across the state. Through TxDOT’s Adopt-an-Airport Program, private citizens, organizations and community groups can take an active role in supporting their local airport and helping maintain a welcoming environment for visitors and pilots alike.
The program allows eligible groups to partner with publicly owned airports included in the Texas Airport System Plan, with a focus on beautification, image enhancement and increasing public awareness of the airport’s role in the community. Adopter groups work alongside airport sponsors and TxDOT to carry out approved activities while following established safety guidelines.
In support of these efforts, TxDOT provides resources such as safety vests, trash bags, educational materials and recognition signage placed along nearby highways. By encouraging local involvement, the Adopt-an-Airport Program helps strengthen community connections to aviation while supporting cleaner, more inviting airport spaces across Texas.
