On the radar

Dan Harmon, TxDOT Aviation Division Director

I hope everyone is having a good summer so far. Things have been busy in Aviation, and it’s only going to get busier in the coming months.

It was great to see so many of you in Frisco at the 2026 Texas Aviation Conference. As always, it was an opportunity to connect with airport sponsors, consultants, industry partners and TxDOT staff. The energy throughout the week was a good reminder of how much we all benefit from coming together to share ideas, ask questions and learn from one another. I’d like to thank everyone who attended, all the exhibitors and the team that put it all together. I’d also like to thank the Texas Airports Council and the members of the Aviation Advisory Committee for their support.

Even as we look back on a successful conference, we’re already looking ahead. Planning is underway for the 2027 Texas Aviation Conference, which will be held April 6–9, 2027, in Galveston. We’re excited to bring the conference back to the Gulf Coast. This year we’ll be at the Convention Center near the San Luis Hotel on the seawall. We’ll be sharing more details as plans take shape, but for now, I encourage you to go ahead and mark your calendars.

Our primary focus in the coming months will be on the development and approval of the Aviation Capital Improvement Program. This is one of the most important efforts we take on each year, since it helps determine where and how we invest state and federal funds across the airport system. Our team is working closely with airport sponsors, planners and engineers to review project requests, set priorities and make sure funding decisions align with both local needs and statewide goals. As always, we appreciate your continued communication and collaboration throughout this process.
