The purpose of AirTAP is to improve safety, efficiency, and technical capacity as well as facilitate knowledge sharing between airports and TxDOT.

TTI’s Aviation Portfolio

Aviation is constantly evolving from the introduction of advanced air mobility to new fuels and safety standards. While existing assets must be managed and maintained to support existing users and new entrants.

The Infrastructure Group conducts airport pavement inspections at over 260 public use airports in Texas. Researchers also provide technical support and tools to assist in the maintenance and improvements of assets across the Texas Airport System.

In the Planning Group, TTI researchers conduct in-depth analysis on policy and regulatory issues surrounding emerging aviation technologies, provide planning support to public entities on aviation topics, and develop tools to aid general aviation airports with grant assurance compliance and economic development.
